STB was horrified to hear of a large number of Brumbies from KNP transported such a long distance to Camden saleyards on 7th July last. Rehoming groups were not notified of NPWS actions. This is a case of NSW Government passing the blood onto contractors as to shoot horses in NSW national parks would cause outrage. Government’s answer is to pass the ‘buck’ to contractors and poor, stressed and terrified horses suffer greatly until the eventual bullet at abattoirs ceases their suffering. Yet there are rehoming groups ready and willing to take the horses and provide for them.

Why were not such organisations notified by NPWS ??
It’s bad enough that there is no Government funding provided to assist rehoming groups take these Heritage Brumbies and find homes for them but that such groups are not even notified of NPWS intentions and the horses consigned to such cruel treatment is beyond belief. Yet NPWS will go to the media and state that captured horses are rehomed.

More lies from this present Government, how sad it is that horses don’t vote, we must make sure we do it for them next State election.
