New England Brumby Sanctuary |
|
New England Brumby Sanctuary is situated halfway
between Armidale and Guyra on the Northern Tablelands of NSW. With
natural country, similar to the regions where the horses free roam, the
sanctuary has excellent facilities for managing the horses.
We hold open days for the public as horses become available for
adoption. Visitors enjoy seeing the horses handled by our experienced
personnel. |

2007 saw a long awaited dream for STB with the
establishment of the New England Brumby Sanctuary (NEBS) situated on the
outskirts of Armidale, NSW.
This 1400 acre property was chosen as it is as close as possible to the
natural country where the horses traditionally free range. Largely
untouched and consisting of undulating grazing land and natural bushland
horses come here as they are relocated from national parks.
Horses are kept in their family groups to settle before we begin the
handling process. When ready for handling they are yarded in specially
designed stock yards in small groups for individual attention. We use
all natural training methods, each horse is managed according to his
unique personality and his progress is noted on his personal Brumby
file.
We hold Inspection Days at NEBS as we have horses available for
Adoption. To see the wild horses in this setting is inspiring and
educational; to see the horses being handled and trained is an
experience to remember.
The flora and fauna at NEBS is unique to the Northern Tablelands, we
even care for the endangered Booralong frog and show how native and
introduced species can mingle together without environmental damage
under careful management. |

Thyme is in Bellingen on the mid north coast of NSW.
Here we care for disadvantaged horses in our VIP Sponsorship program.
The horses enjoy meeting people and are quiet and friendly.

This property fronts the Kalang River and is
especially designed for horses. Stables, training yards and dressage
arena provide excellent facilities for ongoing handling. Sponsored
horses and mares and foals needing a higher level of daily care reside
here also.
Bellingen is a thriving and diverse country town with monthly markets
and a range of tourist activities. A Bellingen holiday with a visit to
the Mountain Thyme Brumby Sanctuary is proving popular. We welcome
visitors by appointment; a donation for volunteers’ time is appreciated.
Our Mascot, STB Adam is always ready for a handshake in return for a
carrot. |
