The ABC article circulated recently was the result of a report issued by the National Parks Association stating that aerial slaughter could be introduced in the Alpine regions.
We have had many distressing emails regarding this report. National Parks, Victoria have assured us that such proposals are definitely not under consideration.
There is an official committee of representatives currently meeting to develop a Plan of Management of wild horses in the Alpine areas. Aerial slaughter is not an option. The draft management plan is now available for public comment, go to www.parkweb.vic.gov.au Victorian Alps Wild Horse Management Plan.
NOTE: Parks Victoria stressed that it is in no way associated with the National Parks Association which is an independent body with it’s own views and in no way connected with Parks Victoria. Confusion often results due to the similarity of the name.
